Life Insurance Underwriting Guidelines

The following tables, Height and Weight Guidelines and Medical Guidelines, offer basic guidelines as to how most companies will classify you (preferred plus, preferred, standard) based on medical and personal issues. If you do not meet one or more of the requirements listed in the preferred or preferred plus columns, please select Standard classification when calculating your quotes.

Important: Even if you apply as a standard or preferred risk, our companies will offer you their very best possible rates (preferred, preferred plus ) whenever possible.

If you have questions, please contact us and we can provide you with additional information.

Your classification will ultimately be determined by the underwriting insurance company. Actual requirements will vary slightly from company to company.

Height and Weight Guidelines
This table can be used for both male and female insureds. Once again they are general in nature, but do represent the allowable maximums for either Preferred Plus, Preferred, or Standard rates from most companies. If your weight exceeds the maximum shown here, use Standard rates in calculating your quote.

Important: note to visitors of QuoteNavigator.com: Other term life quotation services will quote ALL their potential customers at the Preferred Plus classification in order to present the lowest possible premiums. The problem with this practice is that most individuals (about 80-90%) do not qualify for this classification and are not made aware of this until they are presented with higher rates after waiting through several weeks to months of the underwriting phase. Don't let this happen to you. At QuoteNavigator.com we present the lowest priced, more realistic premium quotes to you upon your initial visit.
Important: Your health classification will ultimately be determined by the underwriting insurance company. If you are not satisfied with the classification they assign to you, we will be happy to shop your profile around to other carriers. Remember, actual underwriting requirements will vary slightly from company to company.
